Thank you for using Happiness Evolution. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights in relation to it.

1. Who We Are

Happiness Evolution is developed and operated by Adam Emery, trading as Happiness Evolution ("we", "us", "our"). If you have questions about this policy, contact us at: support@happinessevolution.com

2. Information We Collect

We collect the following information when you use the app:

Account Information

• Email address (used to create and manage your account via Supabase Auth)
• Password (stored securely — we never see it in plain text)

Profile & Assessment Data

• Assessment answers (7 questions, scored 1–5)
• Joy Index score and profile tier
• Journey motivation selection
• Focus areas

Journey & Progress Data

• Concepts completed and deepened
• Exercise responses (your written answers to concept exercises)
• Advanced exercise responses (premium)
• Current concept progress

Daily Check-In Data

• Daily emotional state selections (from a fixed list of 7 states)
• Check-in dates and history (up to 90 days stored locally and in our database)

Usage & Engagement Data

• Streak days and longest streak
• Exercise count and gamification data (achievement points, earned achievements)
• App settings (dark mode, notification preferences)

Device & Technical Data

We do not collect device identifiers, IP addresses, or precise location data.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Provide and operate the app and your account
• Personalize your journey, including your focus areas and Evo's responses
• Generate AI responses from Evo (your check-in states, exercise responses, and profile data are sent to Anthropic's API to generate personalised reflections — see Section 5)
• Track your progress and streaks
• Send optional push notifications (daily check-in reminders and weekly nudges) — only if you enable them
• Analyze aggregate usage patterns to improve the app (via PostHog analytics — see Section 5)
• Process subscription payments (via RevenueCat — see Section 5)

We do not use your data for advertising. We do not sell your data. Ever.

4. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored in two places:

• On your device — using secure, sandboxed local storage (AsyncStorage). This data is accessible only to the app on your device.
• In our database — using Supabase, a secure cloud database hosted on AWS infrastructure. All data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS). Access to your data is enforced by Row Level Security policies — only you can read or write your own data.

5. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services. Each has its own privacy policy.

Supabase (supabase.com) — Authentication and database. Your email address, assessment data, exercise responses, and check-in history are stored in Supabase. Supabase is hosted on AWS infrastructure.

Anthropic (anthropic.com) — AI processing. When you interact with Evo (check-in responses, exercise completions, chat messages, coaching sessions, weekly summaries), the relevant data — including your emotional state, exercise responses, and profile context — is sent to Anthropic's Claude API to generate Evo's responses. This data is processed in accordance with Anthropic's API privacy policy. We do not send your email address or account credentials to Anthropic.

RevenueCat (revenuecat.com) — Subscription and payment management. If you subscribe to Premium, your purchase is processed through the App Store or Google Play. RevenueCat manages entitlement verification. We do not store your payment card details.

PostHog (posthog.com) — Product analytics. We track anonymised in-app events (such as "concept completed" or "check-in done") to understand how the app is used and improve it. PostHog data is not linked to your name or email address.

Expo / Expo Notifications — Push notification delivery (if you enable notifications). Expo manages notification tokens on your device.

6. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all your data is permanently deleted from our database within 30 days. Local device data is removed when you uninstall the app.

7. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your data
• Object to or restrict certain processing
• Data portability

8. Children's Privacy

This app is not intended for users under the age of 13 (or 16 in the EU/UK). We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via the app or by email. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
